Carl Vause


Carl Vause is CEO of Soft Robotics Inc. Carl partnered with Dr. George Whitesides of Harvard University in 2013 to explore commercial applications for the ground-breaking soft robotics work pioneered at the Whitesides Research Group, in partnership with DARPA. Soft Robotics was formed to commercialize this research in late 2013 and Carl joined as CEO. Prior to joining Soft Robotics, Carl held a variety of senior positions in global technology companies. Carl holds a BSEE from Virginia Military Institute and an MBA from London Business School. He began his career as a Naval Flight Officer in the United States Navy, retiring from the Naval Reserve in 2013. Under Carl’s leadership, Soft Robotics has garnered many accolades, including being named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum in 2018. The company also won the 2017 and 2018 Robotics Business Review RBR50 award, the 2018 CES Innovation Award, Forbes’ 25 Most Innovative AgTech Startups in 2018, the 2017 THRIVE AgTech “Top AgTech Company” award, and the 2017 Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council “Most Innovative Robotics Company of Year” award.
