Tim Commins’ 30-plus years in manufacturing has revolved around converting plants from traditional manufacturing processes to next-generation robotics, automated technology and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Commins’ core focus has revolved around driving significantly higher levels of quality and productivity. His initiatives have been the foundation of what is now referred to as Industry 4.0 and the smart factory.
Over his career, Commins has worked for several Tier 1 automotive suppliers spearheading their technology and automation initiatives. A seasoned manufacturing engineering controls veteran who is certified in Six Sigma and lean manufacturing, Commins executes operational improvements and excellence by deploying technical and automated solutions.
Commins holds an engineering degree from Wayne State University with a specialty in Computer Controlled Factories. He is currently the engineering manager for Benteler Automotive, charged with the implantation of MES and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
